Kostas Papadopoulos, re-elected Coordinator of the MEASNET Power Performance Expert Group

• Dr. Papadopoulos is a Physicist with an MSc and PhD on Atmospheric Physics, and Technical Director of Wind Energy Applications & Studies at IWE – International Wind Engineering.

• Coordinator of this expert group since 2023, his participation in Measnet goes back to its founding days, when he also served as Vice Chairman.

 

Madrid, 2025.09.18- Dr. Kostas Papadopoulos has just been re-elected Coordinator of the Measnet Power Performance Expert Group (ExG). He was initially appointed by his colleagues to this position in 2023.Kostas Papadopoulos - Measnet

In this role, he will be the focal point between the Measnet Executive Board and the ExG. Among other functions, he will organize and keep track of the group’s work. He will also act as this collective’s spokesperson at the yearly face-to-face meeting with the Executive Board and the coordinators of the other Measnet Expert Groups.

Dr. Papadopoulos has been a member of the Power Performance Expert Group since 2016. His participation in Measnet goes back to its founding days, when he also served as Vice Chairman.

He is a Physicist with an MSc and PhD on Atmospheric Physics, with 35 years of experience on wind services and R&D, covering a broad range of fields: wind measurements and calibrations, power performance, load and power quality measurements, EYA studies, etcetera. He is currently the Technical Director of Wind Energy Applications & Studies at IWE – International Wind Engineering.

In addition, he is member of the MT12, MT50 and MT15 teams of experts under the IEC 61400-21 Working Group TC 88. He operated as a Technical Coordinator of the Measnet 20pp01 Proficiency Test on Power Performance, developed under the IECRE rules.

His publication record includes more than 20 contributions to specialized magazines.

The Measnet Power Performance Expert Group consists of 16 laboratories: Aresse Engineering, Barlovento Applus+, CEPRI, CRES, Dekra Industrial Inspection, Deutsche WindGuard, DNV, DTU Wind Energy, International Wind Engineering, LME-CIRCE, NREL, TNO, UL Solutions, Wind-Consult, windtest grevenbroich, and Wood Group UK Ltd.

 

About MEASNET

MEASNET, International Network of Wind Energy Measurement Institutes, is a non-profit organization for accredited testing and technical service providers engaged in the field of wind energy. Founded in 1997, its goal is to ensure high quality measurements, uniform interpretation of standards and recommendations, as well as interchangeability of results.

MEASNET currently counts 30 members, which are technical laboratories from Australia, P.R. China, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, The Netherlands, Türkiye, The United Kingdom, and The United States.

Since 2015, MEASNET collaborates with IECRE to offer and perform Proficiency Tests under the rules of IECRE. Furthermore, in 2019, MEASNET signed an A-Liaison with the IEC TC 88 group to promote technology transfer and speed up the process of development and updating of technical guidelines.
